Ouija Board Comeback
September 2005
Ouija Board was given a clear bill of health after her impressive comeback victory on Saturday, 24th September 2005. She won by a comfortable two and a half lengths at Newmarket, having been off the track for 101 days following a season beset by injury and setbacks.
The Cape Cross filly had been off since a small stress fracture of her near cannon-bone occurred during her run at Royal Ascot at York, with a previous splint having already benefited from the regular use of the ECB Equine Spa.
Frankie Dettori who was on board the 2004 Horse of the Year, for the first time described her as “feeling awesome going to post. All credit to Ed Dunlop for bringing her back after her problems. I was very taken with her”.
Ed Dunlop, her trainer commented that, “I’ve always maintained that all roads lead to Belmont Park (on Saturday, October 29)." This is for the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf that she won in 2004.
The ECB Equine Spa has been installed at Gainsborough Stables since the beginning of the 2005 season.
By coincidence, on the same weekend the filly had given her name to another Newmarket race that was won by Spa advocate Mubtaker (See other Press Release).
