James Boyle - The winning touch...
Epsom – home to one of the most iconic events - “The Epsom Derby” and home to many of England’s top trainers. One of which is James Boyle.

James, originally from the Newmarket area originally trained as a veterinary surgeon before starting out in 2001 as a flat trainer from his Epsom base, South Hatch Stables. There was never any doubt James was going to be successful – his first year as a trainer he landed a £12,000 handicap at Goodwood followed by another win on his own turf at Epsom racecourse.
As each year followed his strike rate increased as did his winnings. 2007 saw his greatest year to date with winnings of just under £196,000. With 287 runs and just under 50% of those placing it is understandable why his reputation as Epsom’s most successful trainer precedes him.

James and his wife Pippa were the first owners of ECB’s newest spa model – The ECB Streamline Spa. The Streamline spa was designed early on in 2006 with the thought that it would be ideal for smaller yards that had fewer horses using the spa. From the outset James, Pippa and the yard staff found using the spa trouble free and the results on the horses were soon becoming evident.
Pippa has since setup “Epsom Equine Spa” – a rehabilitation centre offering day treatments to the outside public. Obviously with a lot of local equine trade Pippa too has quickly built up an excellent reputation and expanded on her well documented success with the spa.
ECB would like to extend both congratulations to James and his team and also to James and Pippa for there support with the streamline spa – here is to anther fantastic winning season!
